Betty and Jesus are roommates and best buds. So, when Jesus began showing symptoms including lethargy and having accidents in the house, Betty knew something was up. As a retiree, she lives on a very limited income and needed help. Ordinarily, her daughter helps out, but she lost her job during the pandemic. HHF was able to help Betty and Jesus thanks to a grant from the Next50 Initiative aimed at older Coloradans. While the doctor was able to rule out diabetes, there is concern about thickening of the blood, so Jesus will continue to be monitored and receive hydrotherapy treatments.
Moses is either very lucky or very unlucky depending on how you view the situation. He and his family were involved in a rollover accident in Denver recently. Moses, who is only 5 months old, bolted from the wreckage, jumped off the highway overpass, and ended up in the Platte River where he was found by a passerby. While the veterinarian said it is a miracle he is alive, he did suffer multiple broken bones, has undergone two surgeries so far, and is hospitalized again for skin therapy to heal other wounds. His person, Asyriah, works full time at Walmart, but was facing a $3,000 bill for Moses' emergency care and didn't have income to cover this unexpected bill. Several charities in addition to HHF pitched in funds for this case in the hopes that Moses will completely heal, grow up healthy and strong, and have an amazing life.
Elizabeth and Rascal are family, so when Rascal was diagnosed with a perineal hernia, Elizabeth was concerned about getting her pup the surgery he needed. Ordinarily, the retiree could ask her daughter for help, but her daughter is currently unemployed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Elizabeth's veterinarian referred her to HHF for assistance and Rascal successfully underwent surgery last week at Planned Pethood Plus. The tiny canine is back home where he belongs and Elizabeth shared an update, saying "I want to thank you for your help and participation in Rascal's surgery. As you can see, he is recovering well. My sincere gratitude and thanks to all involved. With love and hope, Liz and Rascal."
Adorable Sadie Bear is a 7 year old Basset Hound/Dachshund mix who underwent surgery Friday @bijouanimalhospital to remove some rather large bladder stones. While a fairly common problem, bladder stones, if left untreated, cause pain, bleeding, can damage bladder tissue, and even cause potentially life-threatening blockages. Sadie Bear's person, Carolyn, lives on SSDI and is very grateful for the assistance received by both HHF and @gingerslegacy. We are very grateful for our supporters who make these happy endings possible!
Sniffles is a 1-1/2 year old kitty who entered emergency foster care recently and is seen here enjoying her first taste of canned food. Her person, William, has faced numerous challenges lately including major spinal cord surgery, and losing his home last week. After 3 days on the streets with Sniffles, his bicycle, and a bike trailer, William contacted HHF and begged us to take Sniffles in out of the heat and thunderstorms. While this separation was clearly difficult on both of them - Sniffles has been with William since she was 6 weeks old - it will give William the opportunity to look for housing without carting the cat around town. Meanwhile, Miss Sniffles will be spayed and brought current on her vaccinations while she hangs out with us, and will hopefully gain a couple of much-needed pounds!
Tyrion is a 4 year old male cat who recently underwent PU surgery to prevent repeat urinary blockages. This surgery is often the last hope for male kitties who suffer from reoccurring, life-threatening blockages. It's not an easy procedure to go through, but Tyrion persevered and is now back home with mom, Katarina, who is self-employed and struggling right now due to lack of work. Keep your chin up, Tyrion - you'll be feeling better soon!

Harley's Hope Foundation was founded 10 years ago specifically to help people struggling to hold onto their pets. In light of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we continue our journey by offering two new temporary services for those affected by the virus, either directly or via the loss of income. Effective immediately we are offering....
Dog and cat food delivery to high-risk pet parents sheltering in place and those who are quarantined due to exposure or caring for an ill loved one. Both the food and the delivery are free to those in need without other resources. This new service is available for residents of El Paso, Teller, and Pueblo Counties in Colorado. Contact us at (719) 495-6083 or info@harleys-hopefoundation.org to request assistance. Or, if you'd like to help, we are in need of canned cat and dog food as well as cat litter, but are not accepting dry pet food at this time.

Medication vouchers up to $150 towards the purchase of medication for chronically ill pets. Applicants must be able to prove their financial hardship is due to Covid 19 as well as show a history of providing medications for their pets. Apply today at https://www.harleys-hopefoundation.org/applicationforservices.html

Drive-Up Pet Food Pantries - To assist those pet parents who are not high-risk, but are struggling financially, HHF will be offering drive-up Pet Pantries the 2nd Saturday of the month, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the parking lot of the Church for All Nations, 6540 Templeton Gap Rd., Colorado Springs.  [Click HERE for directions.]
